Domestic Church

Domestic Church” is an ancient expression that recognizes the Christian family as the smallest expression of the believing community, the first herald of the Gospel, and the first school of Christian life. Currently, “Domestic Church” also refers to an officially recognized movement within the Catholic Church whose mission is to strengthen marriages and families through a deepening of personal and family spirituality.
Couples who are interested in deepening their spiritual life are invited to attend an Evangelization Retreat to begin their formation. After the retreat, they may choose to become part of a small group of couples, known as a “circle”, which meets monthly for prayer, study and mutual support. Each “circle” usually also includes a priest as a spiritual leader.
As part of their formation, couples promise to engage in daily prayer, reading of Scripture, monthly couple dialogue and monthly “circle” meetings. Through these practices, the couple draws on the grace of their sacrament by intentionally and consistently recognizing God's presence in their marriage. This strengthens their marriage and overflows naturally in love and service to their children, to the parish, and to the larger community.
For those interested in getting more information or registering for an Evangelization Retreat, please contact Michael & Erin Franco at: DomesticChurchBR@gmail.com.
